We are very grateful for donations from the public, but due to staff time and space limitations, we have established the following guidelines for donations accepted:
- Appointments are REQUIRED; especially if you have a large number of items that you wish to donate. Please call us at (860)564-8760 PRIOR to bringing items in to the library.
- All donations become property of the library and the professional staff will determine whether or not to add the items to the collection. When items are not added to the catalog of the Aldrich Free Public Library, the items will be passed on to other individuals or organizations.
- Receipts are available if requested but the library can not assess a dollar value to any donation.
- All items must be in new or nearly-new condition.
- We cannot and will not accept any items that are dusty, moldy, worn, torn, or in otherwise poor condition or outdated.
Materials That We CAN Use
- Fiction Hardcover 5 years old or newer
- Nonfiction Hardcover 5 years old or newer
- Music CDs – Undamaged with original case and jacket
- Audio Books on CD – Undamaged with original case and jacket
- Movies on DVD – Undamaged with original case and jacket
Materials That We CANNOT Use
- Condensed Books such as Reader’s Digest
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Textbooks
- Audio Books on tape
- Movies on videotape
- Home-taped videos
- Encyclopedia Sets older than 3 years of age
